Bill Watkin CBEAppointed March 2017 |
Chair of Trustees I am a former teacher of MFL, author of text books and Director of Academies at SSAT; currently CEO of the Sixth Form Colleges Association. I have been fortunate to serve as a School Governor for almost 20 years in various London schools. I joined Every Child, Every Day as a Trustee in 2018. My time has included a spell as chair of the Standards Committee. Sport has always been my obsession, and recently I started preparations for my first ever half-marathon, with a view to going the full distance before too long. I have worked in education in several different roles over 45 years, always with a deep sense of moral purpose and a determined commitment to the best possible educational experience for young people who deserve nothing less than the best. |

Ash AliAppointed September 2019 |
Chief Executive Officer Originally a teacher of History, Politics and across Humanities, I have now taught 19 different subjects in over two decades in education. I am an advanced skills teacher and have served as Head of Subject at Coombe Girls School and Coombe Boys School. More latterly, I have assumed the roles of Assistant Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher at Grey Court School, Headteacher at Chessington School and now CEO of the Every Child, Every Day Academy Trust. While CEO, I have been an interim Headteacher at two Primary Schools, as well as holding a Vice Chair of Governors at a Special School for three years. I have worked with Governors and Trustees as a School Senior Leader since 2007, and was appointed as a Trustee of the Every Child, Every Day in 2019. I am somewhat sport obsessed. I coach rugby, still somehow play rugby, watch rugby and am President of my rugby club. Rugby has taught me so much over the years, not least the importance of support, teamship and collective accountability. I am also somewhat obsessed with American Football, having played for my local club and at University. I play a role in a UK chapter for my consistently failing team – The Raiders. Walking and hiking are how I relax. A good 15-mile walk is the best medicine! As a young person brought up on Free School Meals, in a council estate and born into the race riots outside my front door, the power of education has been palpable throughout my life. Great educators changed my life and this is now why I choose to pay that back for Every Child, Every Day. |

Chair of Impact & Performance Committee As a Chartered Engineer, my initial working experiences were in Germany, South Africa, Eastern Europe and the US for P&G. More recently, however, I became an eCommerce and Digital expert at P&G then Nomad Foods (Birds Eye/ Findus). Currently, I am Strategy VP at eStoreBrands, an online analytics company. I have been involved in school governance for 15 years, initially in the context of my own children, driven by a desire to understand more – I was a governor at Heathside Weybridge and then Chair of the Elmway Learning Trust, which established and opened Heathside Weybridge. I became a Trustee at ECED further to the merger of the two Trusts. I have enjoyed much value from volunteering my time and look forward to continuing to add value from both my governance experience and my work life. In terms of my free time, having had the privilege to travel with work, and understand different cultures within the work environment, I have always relished the exposure that travel provides. Time doesn’t currently allow as much as I would like, but there are plans to ramp this up again! |
